La estirpe de Calibán

Abstract

En el presente artículo se estudia un concepto fundamental del pensamiento crítico latinoamericano desde su origen, en Shakespeare, pasando por diversas resemantizaciones a lo largo del tiempo, hasta llegar a la versión anticolonial que se da en el siglo xx. Se analizan diversos autores y teorías para ofrecer una panorámica de la presencia e importancia de tal concepto/personaje/metáfora, así como su doble uso colonial y anticolonial.

In the present article a fundamental concept of Latin American critical thinking is studied from its origin, in Shakespeare, going through various resemantizations through time, until arriving at the anticolonial version that occurs in the 20th century. Various authors and theories are analyzed to offer an overview of the presence and importance of such a concept/character/metaphor as well as its dual colonial and anticolonial use.
