| dc.description.abstract | El presente trabajo pasa revista a las diferentes teorías médicas
medievales que relacionan la enfermedad de amor con la melancolía para determinar cuál de ellas parecen tener en cuenta los autores de La Celestina a la
hora de crear a sus personajes principales. Rojas podía haber seguido la teoría
que desaconsejaba la terapia sexual para combatir la enfermedad de amor
porque creía que se la producía un temperamento melancólico en el que no
estaba indicada por sus escasas posibilidades de poder ponerla práctica. Por
esa razón hace que sus dos protagonistas estén más enfermos de amor después

| dc.description.abstract | This work reviews the different medieval medica] theories which connect lovesickness with melancholy in order to determine which of
them are taken into account by La Celestina' s authors to create their main
characters. Rojas could probably follow the theory that advised against the
sexual therapy to fight lovesickness because he thought that it was caused by
a melancholy temperament; in this case, that therapy was not recommended
owing to their short possibilities to put it into practice. For this reason, the
author makes act his two main characters as if they were much more ill, after
having carried out the sexual relationship. | en |
