Abstract
The purpose of this final degree project is to present to industry the advancements developed by the
Department of Electronics at the University of Alcala, with a main goal of improving the lives of the
group of people with severe mobility issues thanks to advances in robotics, from which theese people have
not benefited equally.
According to this propose, It is used as base the SAR platform already created in the project SARA
(ref: CCG2018/EXP-059). This project has as general objective to increase the independence of the group
of people with severe mobility difficulties. Thanks to the advances already consolidated in mobile robotics,
specifically in the field of autonomous or semi-autonomous navigation in structured environments. To do
this, it is necessary to transfer these advancements to a commercial wheelchais robotized with a Human
Machine Interface (HIM).
Form SAR’s basic structure, which consists in a mechanical chassis and two sensorised electric motors,
It is design a low-level system that operates the wheelchair and can be controlled by the user via a joystick
analog, by a digital input introduced thanks to digital keypad, by the blow system, a system that was
developed by the University of Alcala, or by autonomous navigation by introducing the desired coordinate
on a map of the environment in a graphical interface.
