The reaction of the compounds TaXCl4 (X = η5-C5H5, η5-C5H4SiMe3 or Cl) with o-diphenols 4-RC6H3(OH)2 (R = H, Me, But gave the dialkoxides XCl2Ta(O2C6H3R), whereas the reaction with 4,4′-isopropylidenediphenol gave the monoalkoxides [TaXCl3]2[(OC6H4)2CMe2]. Osmometry shows the cyclopentadienyl derivatives with X = η-C5H4SiMe3 and R = Me, But to be dimeric in benzene, but the halogeno complex with X = Cl and R = But to be trimeric. The new alkoxide complexes have been characterised by IR and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.en
