Diez prejuicios sobre la historia de la lingüística

Abstract

El artículo recoge y critica diez prejuicios sobre la construcción de la historia de la lingüística. En ellos se resume un espíritu antihistórico que pone en peligro la perspectiva científica de los lingüistas. La negación del interés de la historia o la reducción de su atención a la propia escuela son manifestaciones de esos prejuicios. La concepción de una historia acumulativa y definitiva es otro de esos tópicos engañosos. Frente a esos prejuicios está la práctica de la historia de la lingüística, que apela al principio de que la lingüística opera con una variedad de paradigmas en competencia. El sentido histórico permite asimilar la realidad de que los modelos de la lingüística están determinados por la perspectiva con que se estudia el lenguaje y la comunicación.

The article collects and criticizes ten prejudices about the construction of the history of linguistics. They summarize an antihistorical spirit that endangers the scientific perspective of linguists. The denial of the interest of history or the reduction of its attention to the own doctrinal current are manifestations of those prejudices. The conception of a cumulative and definitive history is another one of those deceptive topics. Faced with these prejudices is the practice of the history of linguistics, which appeals to the principle that linguistics operates with a variety of competing paradigms. The historical sense allows us to assimilate the reality that the models of linguistics are determined by the perspective with which language and communication are studied.
