Entre Italia y América Latina : identidades ítalo-argentinas en el Buenos Aires del siglo XXI

Abstract

Este ensayo toma en consideración el estudio de los descendientes actuales de inmigrantes italianos en Buenos Aires. Nos proponemos con ello examinar las formas de creación y representación de la identidad ítalo-argentina, teniendo en cuenta que ser ítalo-argentino significa relacionarse tanto con el mundo italiano de origen, como con la cultura argentina, en la cual estas personas efectivamente viven. Reflexionar sobre las trayectorias identitarias de estos sujetos permite examinar identidades dinámicas, comprobar la existencia de vínculos todavía vivos con las pertenencias de origen, y, al mismo tiempo, observar también visiones y tendencias encauzadas hacia América Latina. En el contexto de los flujos migratorios latinoamericanos actuales, además, las reflexiones propuestas consideran procesos sociales que no solamente involucran Argentina, sino que hacen referencia también a equilibrios más complejos de América Latina y a las relaciones entre países latinoamericanos. Por ello, estos sujetos representan un importante vínculo en el marco de las relaciones entre Europa y América Latina

The essay focuses on the current community of the descendants of Italian immigrants in Buenos Aires. Along these lines we intend to delve into the study of how these communities create and represent their Italian-Argentinean identity. Being Italian-Argentinean means establishing connections with both the Italian world of origin and the elements related to the Argentinean culture where these people actually live in. The analysis of the trajectories of their identities enables us to examine complex and dynamic identities and to verify the existence of bonds with the ancestors' identity. At the same time it’s important to observe the points of view and attitudes directed towards Latin America. Moreover, in view of the current LatinAmerican immigration flow, these considerations aim to include social processes that take into account not only Argentina, but also the more complex Latin American balances and the relationships between Latin-American countries. Therefore, this objet represents an important link in the relationship between Europe and Latin America
