La Catedral de Santiago de Compostela en tiempos del «Codex Calixtinus». Espacio arquitectónico y ceremonia en torno al proyecto románico

Abstract

La interpretación funcional de la arquitectura de la catedral románica de Santiago de Compostela durante sus etapas iniciales es especialmente confusa debido a la ausencia de documentación litúrgica hasta fechas muy tardías. En este artículo se propone una mirada al espacio catedralicio a través de la interpretación de la topografía sacra de la iglesia y su entorno, a través de las fuentes documentales y la propia arquitectura, y en relación con el medio europeo coetáneo.

The functional interpretation of the architecture of the Romanesque cathedral of Santiago de Compostela during its initial stages is especially confusing due to the absence of liturgical documentation until very late dates. This article proposes a review of the cathedral space through the interpretation of the sacred topography of the cathedral church and its surroundings, through its documentary sources and the architecture itself and in relation to its contemporary European environment.
