Abstract
Throughout this paper a tool based on Matlab has been developed to optimize antireflection coating (ARC) structures based on bilayers of oxide transparent materials. These ARC are vital in a silicon solar cell in order to reduce the reflection losses of the device and increase its efficiency. In the implementation, the refractive indexes and the thicknesses of the different materials that characterize each layer of the ARC design will be used with the purpose of determining the optical properties and its effect on the parameters of the device. In addition, the developed tool will allow to obtain the figure of merit of the developed coatings such as the average transmission in the response range of the solar device, the weighted reflectance to the AM1.5G spectrum, and the short-circuit photocurrent density of the solar cell and, finally, to determine a comparison with experimental measurements. In this way, the goodness of the developed tool can be valued, in order to be applied to select the antireflection coating structure most suitable for a given solar cell.
