In order to solve communication problems, both cultural and linguistic, in other words in order to learn a language, the learner needs to become aware of the cultural identity of the other. It helps him to understand the person he communicates with. A task-based approach offers a methodology which enables the learner to acquire the target language and the culture in which the language is embedded in a natural way.
