Butit is often difficult to convince students of English as a foreign language that texts in English canbe understood even though there are vocabulary items and structures they have never seenbefore. So it is useful to provide our students with different types of texts that require differentstyles of reading in order to become effective readers. On the other hand, projects are multiskillaaivities that provide students with the oportunities to recycle known language and skills in arelatively natural context.Through the project "Newspapers in the classroom", we try to make students aware of thepossibility of being able to understand and produce newspaper articles through a great varietyof activities based on stimulating authentic reading material related to various sections andaspects of national and intemational news, finance and science and technology.
