However, there isstill a lack of appropriate teaching materialsand a comprehensive and integrative CLILmethodology has yet to be developed.Legitimate concerns have been raised thatpractitioners may fail to reach the inherentpotential of the CLIL approach unless theyembrace the specific CLIL mindset and areprovided with the methodological competencesneeded to bring this innovative approach to lifeand to ensure quality teaching and learning.This article intends to address this problem byestablishing quality criteria for successful andsustainable CLIL teaching and learning and byintroducing a fl exible planning tool that enablesteachers to develop innovative materials basedon the 4Cs-Framework (Coyle).
