The historiographer Thucydides narrates in some passages an episode that he lived and suffered in the first person. It is an epidemic attributed to the bacterium Salmonella enterica. In this brief walk through a stage of the History of Greece, Thucydides intuits in his texts the concepts of contagion and immunity by objectively narrating the signs and symptoms he observed.
