AB In this article the author analyzes two poems written by José Martí in New Yorkthat appeared after his death in Cuba, and subsequently in critical editions of his work. Theobjective is to make known the original version of one of them and to highlight the changesthat recent editors have made, even striking one version of one of these poems from themost recent compilation of his "Obras completas" (“Complete Works”), and have erroneouslyattributed to Martí a short story written by the Colombian writer Santiago Pérez Triana.
