It was found thatall the teachers believe in following a communicativeapproach which focuses mainly on speakingand listening and in which the explicit teaching ofgrammar plays a minor role. Most of the teachersalso claimed to use only the target language in classand to make frequent use of group and pair work. One of the aspects which seems to have influencedthese teachers’ attitudes is their own negativeexperience as language learners in traditional,grammar-based classrooms.
