The essence of the technique relies on thepresence of two separate gain resonances in the Brillouin gain spectrumgenerated by cascading two different fiber segments showing distinctBrillouin shifts. It can be shown that in between these two gain spectra, areduced group index can be obtained. To further optimize our results, webroadened the pump spectrum by introducing a modulation of the currentdriving the pump laser to achieve a delay-bandwidth product close to theoptimum conditions. This scheme eliminates the need of an external opticalmodulator and offers the advantage of a much reduced signal distortion PB Optical Society of America SN 1094-4087 YR 2007 FD 2007-08-13 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10017/31021 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10017/31021 LA eng NO Swiss National Science Foundation DS MINDS@UW RD 25-abr-2024
