Thirty-five students, divided intotwo groups – Content-and-language-integratedlearning(CLIL) vs. English-as-a-foreign-language(EFL), were asked about their experience with oralpresentations, received theoretical and practicaltraining in how to make good oral presentations, were engaged in tasks in which they had to performan oral presentation in English, evaluate theirpeers’ and own presentations, and eventually assessedthe whole educational experience. An onsetand an offset questionnaire were administered atthe beginning and at the end of the innovationexperience. The offset questionnaire results indicatedthat in comparison with the significant gainsreported by EFL students, CLIL students did notperceive that their English language skills had improvedafter the oral presentation training, whichsuggests that CLIL lessons, in contrast to EFLsettings, may be focused on content to the detrimentof the language component. Consequently,we make a call for a better integration of contentand language and for the use of focus-on-form techniquesin CLIL contexts at university PB Universidad de Alcalá.
