AB This paper examines the trajectory of Nicanor Bolet Peraza in his role of exile writer and editor of the journal "La Revista Ilustrada" de Nueva York during the years of 1885-1890. By examining some of Bolet Peraza’s editorials and articles published in this magazine, and the repercussions they had on other Latin American publications, thispaper shows the commitment this Venezuelan writer had with Hispanic independent movements. In his role of managing editor, Bolet Peraza helped other intellectual exiles and political refugees from any part of the Hispanic speaking world to settle within theUnited States and to disseminate their literary work.
