AB This essay analyzes three futuristic Spanish novels published in 2011 from anecocriticalperspective. The three works are critical dystopias and depict futurescenarios in which the current social and ecological crisis has arrived to unsustainableextremes. These futures would be the result of continuing with the logic of constanteconomic growth in the context of a limited biosphere. Thus, this essay reveals,deploying degrowth theory, how these novels imply a criticism to the unsustainableglobal capitalism and an invitation to the reader to question its legitimacy.
