As Latino identifiability increases in U.S. society, so does its perceived threat to valued esources. As a result, public policy initiatives are promoted by the dominant group that seek to constrain the access of Latinos to valued resources. In addition, these public policy initiatives utilize racial profiling to limit the participation of Latinos in other areas of civic life – the right to vote, the freedom to travel, and the privilege of self-identification.
