AB This work analyzes the result of a poll on attitudes and beliefsanswered by two networks of Otomi immigrants in Mexico City.The goal is to investigate the role that language has on the identity ofthese new extraterritorial or moral communities and how this isperceived by the speakers, the ideas they have about its status and thevalue they infer to it in an urban context where bilingualism is notgeneralized and there is a preference for Spanish.
