The research on which is article is based aims to explore how classroom questioning can help students guide their learning and model the spirit of inquiry to become lifelong learners. The research took place in an International Bilingual School of Madrid during sixth grade English lessons. It shows how developing effective questioning skills requires careful planning and practice, and how students can take hold and guide their learning when given the opportunity to actively participate in the learning process.
