Conflictividad social castellano-leonesa y Feudalismo en el siglo XII : una reflexión sobre el caso de Castrojeriz

Abstract

El artículo es una breve nota, situado en un marco de mayores discursiones de conflictividad social que acontecen a principios del siglo XII, a la invasión almorávide hay que añadir una etapa política muy inestable en los reinos cristianos. Las disputas sociales que se recogen en diversas fuentes se refieren al hecho de forzar el reconocimiento de los privilegios feudales concedidos a las villas frente al avance de los señoríos laicos y eclesiásticos, se trataría de mantener una situación de ventaja frente a una crisis general de la situación, que creó un fuerte espíritu corporativo en las villas aforadas, que por supuesto no quería decir igualdad, pues se defiende la estructura jerarquizada feudal. El caso de Castrojeriz se muestra aquí como paradigma de estos conflictos.

This article is a frief note which must be situated in the larger panorama of social unrest that takes place at the beginning of the 12th century, to the almoravid invasion we must not forget to add the unstable political situation lived in the Christian kingdoms during this period. The social conflicts that are narrated in the various documents used in this article, all refer to the desire for the reinforcement and recognition of the feudal privileges given to manors versus those given to secular and ecclesiastic villas. The Lords felt these new villas were becoming an imminent thereat to their dominions. They wanted to maintain their prestige in spite of the general crisis. This created a spirit of cooperation amongst them that must not be mistaken for a desire for equality, because they were defending a continuation of the feudal hierarchical structures. The case of the villa of Castrojeriz analyzed in this article is a paradigmatic example of these kinds of conflicts.
