La gran travesía púnica : España, Cartago y América

Abstract

Ciertos textos clásicos hablan de que los cartagineses descubrieron en sus navegaciones una gran isla en el Océano. Los historiadores de Indias españoles, debido a las circunstancias políticas y a los prejuicios científicos de los SIGLOS XVI-XVII, dieron la noticia por cierta y reflexionaron o fantasearon sobre tal expedición. Con ello sentaron las bases de una leyenda que se ha prolongado en el tiempo.

Some classic texts speak on the fact that the Carthaginians discovered in their navigations a great island in the Ocean. The Spanish historiadores de Indias broke the news as certain mostly due to the political circumstances and to the scientific prejudices of their time, and in that atmosphere they reflected or daydreamed on that expedition. With this they sat the bases of a legend that lasted in the history.
