Introducción a la metodología para el estudio de los precios en la investigación histórica

Abstract

Resulta innegable la importancia que el estudio de los precios tiene para la investigación histórica por lo que se hace necesario afrontarlo de un modo sencillo pero sistemático y efectivo. En este sentido el artículo de Fernando Checa nos aclara cuándo podemos utilizar los precios, los salarios y los números índice como variables económicas científicamente válidas y Gonzalo Anes. Una vez obtenidas las materias primas de la cuantificación económica, nos muestra en qué casos y bajo qué condiciones son susceptibles de ser usadas, relacionadas, extrapoladas, etc. Teniendo siempre en cuenta la mutabilidad de los conceptos que estamos utilizando en la variable tiempo, se hace necesario ver el comportamiento de estas categorías en las tendencias seculares, estacionales, cíclicas, y en las ondas largas.

It is undeniable the importance that the study of prices has for the historical research, so it is necessary to face it, in an easy but effective and systematic way. In that sense Fernando Checa's article clarifies when we can use prices, salaries and index numbers as economic variables scientifically accepted, bringing near the methods used by some of the best historians such as Hamilton, Pierre Vilar and Gonzalo Anes. Having obtained the first materials of the economic quantification, he presents us in what situation and under what conditions, they are susceptible to be used, related, extrapolated, etc. Always taking into account the mutability of concepts, used through the time, it is necessary to pay attention to the behaviour of these categories in the secular tendencies, stationarys, cyclical and in the long waves.
