El antiguo patrimonio de la Universidad Complutense

Abstract

Con la fundación de la Universidad Central de Madrid se produce el traslado del antiguo patrimonio complutense a la villa y corte. La nueva institución empleó parte de ese patrimonio para, con su venta, recabar fondos que le permitiesen afrontar sus gastos. La desidia y el abandono son otros factores que hacen que hoy no sea mucho lo que nos reste del antiguo legado de la Universidad de Alcalá. El autor de este artículo ofrece una primera aproximación al inventario de las piezas complutenses, conservadas no sólo en la Universidad de Madrid sino también en otros museos e instituciones.

The old Heritage of the University of Alcala was moved to Madrid when its Central University was founded. The new institution sold part of this legacy in order to find the expenses of its setting up. The remainder of this heritage has been greatly reduced by idleness and neglect. The author of this article offers a first approach to the inventory of the works preserved in the University of Madrid an in other museums and institutions.
