Abstract
Lymphedema is defined as an unusual increase of liquid rich in proteins in the interstitial space due to an alteration of the capacity of lymphatic system transport. This lymphatic alteration can appear in any region of the body but it is more common in lower or upper extremities. The study will be focused on lymphedema treatment in lower limbs. It has been seen that physiotherapy has been effective in preventive and symptomatic treatment of this pathology since to date it does not exist any curative treatment related to lymphedema. Physiotherapy techniques for lymphedema treatment are within Complex Decongestive Therapy (TDC) which was described by Földi. Currently there is a new application that describes its usage in lymphedema treatment and it is called neuromuscular bandage or Kinesiotaping. This application is the one we are going to use in the study. The treatment is within TDC and it is organized in a shock phase that was applied for 3 weeks in random days and there is a second maintenance phase that was developed for 2 weeks (in random days) in which the usage of elastic support tights was valued. The aim of the study is to value through the treatment of two patients the effectiveness of the Kinesiotaping application within TDC in those diagnosed patients with grade I lymphedema in lower limbs. The obtained results are satisfactory taking into account the grade the patients have. At the same time, there is a significant improvement related to pain and heaviness. It is necessary to make a bigger number of studies to show scientifically the effectiveness of neuromuscular bandage for lymphedema treatment.
