dc.description.abstractFor a learner of a foreign language, learning to read means: - learning to predict the content and lexis of a text by using his/her previous experience, knowledge of the world and cultural background - learning to extract the gist and/or detailed information from a text according to his/her purpose - learning to deduce meaning from the context and to disregard unknown vocabulary that does not impede understanding - learning to recognise text structure, to> identify text function and to infer the writer's intentions. The foreígn language teacher must develop these skills through the use of a wide range of actlvites and text types that will be analised in the workshop.en
