Abstract
After the metamorphosis experienced by the literary configuration
and the theoretical perspective of friendship between the XII and the
XIII centuries, through a mainly feudal rereading, this bond took on new and distinctive features. This is the case of the present book of chivalry, first published in Burgos in 1499, which praises the importance of fnendship
between knights by means of sacrifices that imply a total and mutual
devotion. It is not mere coincidence that Menéndez Pelayo found a common
ground between this text and the legend of Ami and Amile, one of
the main models of selfless friendship between two feudal knights. From
this point of view, we will compare the essential features of the relationship
between Oliveros and Artus with this new perception of friendship,
and we will analyse the importance of this bond as the dynarnizing element
of the work.
