El texto de la "Epistola de cura rei familiaris" en el "Compendium morale" de Geremia da Montagnone

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el Compendium morale de Geremia Da Montagnone, escrito alrededor del 1295, como instrumento para el conocimiento de datos sobre la Epistola de cura rei familiaris (s. XIII), que se ha contado tradicionalmente entre los textos espúreos de Bernardo de Claraval. El Compendium morale es un florilegio de citas y fragmentos procedentes de diversas obras, desde la Antigüedad hasta la época del autor. Entre otros muchos, Geremia recoge en su Compendium fragmentos de la Epistola de cura rei familiaris. Esta Epistola, sobre cuyo autor y época de redacción apenas tenemos datos, pertenece al género de los Oeconomica y es uno de sus exponentes más tempranos. Posee gran importancia principalmente por su extraordinaria difusión en toda Europa. La exactitud de Geremia en el manejo de sus fuentes, el hecho de que incluya listas cronológicas de autores e indicaciones sobre las divisiones en capítulos, libros, etc. en los textos que sirven de base a su Compendium proporcionan datos de gran importancia para conocer algunos aspectos de la historia, difusión y recepción de la Epistola de cura reifamiliaris.

In this paper we analise ihe Compendium morale, written by Geremia Da Montagnone around 1295, as a means to widen our knowledge about the Epistola de cura rei familiaris (XIII), a treaty has been included among the spurious works of Bemard of Clairval. The Compendium morale is an anthology of quotations and fragrnents from seved works, from the Classic Anliquity to the author's date. Among others, Geremia selects for his Compendium several fragments of the Epistola de curu rei familiaris. This Epistola, whose author and date of redaction are unknown to us, belongs to the literary gender of the Oeconomica, being one of its earliest surviving works and also one of the most imporlant, due to its extraordinary difusion all around Europe. The accuracy of Geremia in the handling of his sources and the fact that he includes chronological lists of authors and indications about the division in books, chapters, etc. of the texts that he used for his Compendium give some very important data about some aspects of the history, difusion and reception of the Epistola de cura rei familiaris.
