Más sobre la presencia de Mal Anda en el "Cantar de Mio Cid"

Abstract

Tomando como punto de partida dos investigaciones previas, en este nuevo artículo muestro las conexiones existentes entre los vv. 3063-3072 del Cantar de Mio Cid y diversas leyes pertenecientes al Fuero Viejo de Castilla. Dichas relaciones implican principalmente la importancia de grupos de vasallos que, siguiendo a un líder, le apoyaban en tribunales ante un juez o el propio rey. La presencia de estas leyes en el Cantar demuestran que el redactor tuvo que crear un nuevo personaje, Mal Anda, pues dichas normas legales hubiesen sido desafiadas en caso de que el Cid no hubiese acudido a las Cortes de Toledo con once hombres a su lado.

Taking two previous researches as a starting point, in this new article I show the connections existing between ll. 3063-3072 in the "Cantar de Mio Cid" and several laws that belong to the "Fuero Viejo de Castilla". Such relationships mainly involve the importance of vassail groups that, following a leader, supported him in trials before a judge or the king himself. The presence of these laws in the "Cantar" prove the necessity the writer had to create a new character, Mal Anda, as such legal rules would have been defied in case the Cid had not gone to the Courts at Toledo with eleven men by his side.
