Perspectivas de desarrollo de la educación superior en América Latina en un mundo globalizado

Abstract

El artículo analiza los cambios que han ocurrido en la enseñanza superior de América Latina, considerando tanto las transformaciones externas que han afectado a la educación postsecundaria como los cambios inherentes al sistema. El documento se ha organizado en tres partes: en la primera, se describen las condicionantes externas que inciden en el desarrollo del sistema terciario y sus implicancias para los profesores y los estudiantes; en la segunda, se discuten los factores internos del sistema de educación superior que condicionan su funcionamiento, y en la tercera parte se hace un breve recuento de las características de la docencia tradicional para concluir con algunas propuestas de cambio para optimizar los recursos del sistema y dar cuenta efectiva de las demandas.

The article analyzes the changes that have happened in the superior education of Latin America, considering the external transformations that have affected the post high school education, as well as, the inherent changes to the system. The document has been organized in three parts: in the first part, the external conditioners that affect the development of the tertiary system and their influence for the professors and the students are described; in the second part, the internal factors that affect the superior education system are discussed, and in the third part a brief recount of the characteristics of traditional teaching is made, to conclude with some proposals of change to optimize the resources of the system and to give effective account of the demands.
