Los mundiales, ¿el milagro de Berlín?

Abstract

Con el llamado «milagro de Berna», en 1954, la selección de fútbol alemana se colocó a la cabeza de las selecciones europeas y fue la constatación de su increíble recuperación, no sólo deportiva. En 1974 volvió a ganar la Campeonato del Mundo. Han pasado más de 30 años y los alemanes no han vuelto a ganar. No han sido lo suficientemente competitivos y la afición, con excepción de la del Bayern de Munich, ha ido perdiendo entusiasmo. En este artículo se hace un resumen de la historia del fútbol en Alemania, durante el pasado siglo y se analiza el cambio que se está produciendo ante el próximo campeonato mundial, que se celebrará en Berlín en 2006: inversiones millonarias, aumento de la afluencia en los estadios, etc. La elección del entrenador Klinsmann, muy polémico por algunas de sus actuaciones innovadoras, ha devuelto el interés y ya se empieza a hablar en Alemania de un nuevo milagro: «el milagro de Berlín».

Germany's surprising victory at the football World Cup in 1954, better known as the Miracle of Bern, confirmed their recovery. In 1974 the Germans won again the World Cup. More than 30 years have gone by since this last victory. They haven't been enough competitive and their fans, with the exception of Bayern Munich fans, have lost their enthusiasm. This article is a summary of Germany's football history during the last century, and also studies the active role in the planning and staging of 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlín with millionaire investments, increase of the number of people in the stadium, etc. The election of the new head coach Klinsmann, a very controversial man because of some of his innovating actions, has regained the nation interest and now we may hear talking about a new miracle: «the Miracle of Berlin».
