Las inversiones directas españolas en América Latina en el período 2000-2003

Abstract

Las inversiones directas españolas han acompañado la tendencia seguida por los flujos internacionales de inversión directa. Registraron un importante take off en la etapa 1996-2000 y desde entonces han seguido una trayectoria descendente que apenas ha comenzado a cambiar en 2004. Sin embargo, en este año pasado la drástica y preocupante reducción de la entrada de inversiones extranjeras directas en España ha supuesto que las inversiones directas realizadas hayan vuelto a superar de nuevo a las recibidas. El elevado flujo de inversiones directas en el exterior en esta etapa se concentró sobre todo en los países de América Latina, lo que determinó que las instituciones financieras y las empresas españolas se constituyesen en los segundos inversores internacionales en la región, apenas por detrás de Estados Unidos.

The direct Spanish investment follows the International flow of direct investment. They registered an important <<take off>> in the 1996-2000 period and since then has been following a descendent tendency that barely has started to change in 2004. None the less, in the last year the drastic and worrying reduction of the entrance of the foreign direct investment in Spain has assumed that the already done direct investment have come to exceed once again the once that were received. The high flow of foreign direct investment in this period was concentrated most of all in the Latin America countries, which determined that Spanish financial institutions and enterprises became the second international investors in the región, only behind of the United States.
