Abstract
The recent very spectacular and quick developments of research about literacy in the modern ages are one of the consequences of the «quantitative revolution» that has characterized the present historiography of the sixties. Nowadays, we propose an experiment within the palaeographic and codicological field. We observe the existence of a common tendency between both senses to match the need of quantification (this requirement is most probably licit, but also limited) with the typical methodology of the palaeographic studies oriented towards the knowledge of the copiers graphic culture (del A.E.M.)
