Aplicación de Kinesiotape en cervicalgia crónica en Atención Primaria. Estudio de un caso clínico.

Abstract

Objetivo: Recoger los resultados obtenidos tras la aplicación de kinesio tape en el tratamiento fisioterapéutico de la cervicalgia crónica. Material y métodos: Se estudió el caso clínico de un sujeto con cervicalgia crónica, atendido en el Centro de Salud Reyes Magos, de Alcalá de Henares. Recibió un total de once sesiones de fisioterapia, dentro de las cuales se incluyó la aplicación de vendaje neuromuscular, como objeto de estudio, añadido al tratamiento convencional que se lleva a cabo normalmente en dicho centro. Se valoró la amplitud articular mediante un goniómetro cervical y el umbral del dolor gracias a un algómetro de presión. Resultados: Se logró disminuir el dolor notablemente, disminuyendo el umbral del dolor, y se consiguió aumentar la amplitud articular en todos los rangos de movimiento. Conclusión: La combinación del tratamiento convencional de fisioterapia en las cervicalgias crónicas llevado a cabo en este centro de Atención Primaria, con la aplicación de kinesio tape, disminuye el dolor y mejora la movilidad articular. Se requieren futuros estudios con muestras más amplias para determinar la efectividad clínica de esta terapia al igual que otros estudios que comparen los resultados entre tratamientos que incluyan y otros que no incluyan esta técnica.

Aim: Collect the results obtained after the application of Kinesio tape in the physiotherapy treatment of chronic neck pain. Subjects and methods: A case of a patient with chronic cervical pain, treated at Reyes Magos Health Centre, at Alcalá de Henares, was studied. The patient received a total of eleven sessions of physical therapy, among which included the implementation of neuromuscular dressing as an object of study, added to conventional treatment that is usually carried out in this center. Joint range was assessed using a cervical goniometer and pain threshold thanks to a pressure algometer. Results: The pain was reduced significantly, decreasing pain threshold, and managed to increase joint range on all ranges of motion. Conclusion: The combination of conventional physiotherapy treatment in chronic neck pain, conducted in this Primary Care Center, with the application of Kinesio tape, improves joint mobility and reduce the pain. Future, studies with larger samples are required to determine the clinical effectiveness of this therapy like other studies wich compare outcomes between treatments involving and not involving this technique
