Abstract
The existence of studies that analyze the importance of the position of
the shoulder blade regarding to the upper extremities is nowadays really
known and every time they are more people who realize this relation in the
treatment of pathologies of the shoulder. They are based in a general way,
on the influence of the musculature. It is also true that are muscles which
relate the shoulder blade and the neck. Nevertheless, there are not
publications that analyze the relation above mentioned. For this motive, there
has been executed this descriptive study in which there have taken part 44
students of the University of Alcala de Henares (17 males, 27 females) 10 of
whom did not have pain of neck and 34 of them had it. The inclusion criteria
were the existence or not of neck pain. The participants had one valued of
the position of the shoulder blade the position, taking some measures in
different positions.
After doing the statistical analysis, it concludes that there are not
significant differences between the positions of the shoulder blade in people
who have symptoms with the asymptomatic people. It is important to
emphasize that the number of the asymptomatic individuals is considerably
minor to the symptomatic ones. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out future
studies with better homogeneity in the groups.
