Abstract

This paper explores the persistence of socioeconomic residential segregation in Argentina. The subject is discussed in the context of the economic recovery that the country experienced after the 2001 crisis. By making fictitious cohort it was evaluated whether those who were exposed to higher levels of segregation have improved their situation in relative terms over these years. The results obtained suggest that, even though its intensity was reduced, the pattern of socioeconomic residential segregation was not altered in a substantive manner. This requires to move towards the discussion of an agenda of public policies that explicitly takes into account the welfare of the population.
