Abstract
In the Madrid Conservatory there were women teachers from its foundation,
a pioneering fact that must be analyzed to be properly understood. In this
work, the repeating and honorary woman teachers are studied. These teaching
figures, although they were those that presented the most unfavorable conditions,
supported the teaching staff of the center in certain periods and were
highly demanded by professors of both sexes. It is analyzed how they were
contemplated in the regulations, how they accessed, the conditions of their performance, the implications inside and outside the Conservatory for those
who exercised them and all the circumstances that help to understand what
it meant in career of the numerous women (and men) who occupied them.
