Abstract
. 1820 marks the return of the
American patriots to their homeland because the Spanish liberais victoriously emerged from the revolution and tolerated the idea of a break in the colonial system for the first time in Spanish history. This
is one of the many ídeological manifestations dividing "the two Spains", clearly perceptible since then to such foreign observers as the British Minister of Foreign Affairs George Canning, who so States openly in his correspondence from 1822 to 1823
