Abstract
The statistical data outlines the impact that immigration and, specifically, Romanian
immigration has had in recent years. This linguistic and sociocultural contact that
manifests itself from this migratory process between the immigrant population and the
host country creates social, attitudinal, identity and linguistic changes such as the
well- known “Romanian” phenomenon. This work aims to show various cultural and
linguistic aspects of the Romanian population living in Spain, focusing on the
Community of Madrid and its surroundings. The goal is to show the variations
experienced by this community of speakers and to demonstrate the impact that the
mother tongue has on learning Spanish, with the aim of improving teaching to this
group of speakers.
