Abstract
For several years, different countries of the world have been submerged in the search for
international “accounting homogenization and/or harmonization” as a consequence of
the economic globalization that has been developed for some years. In the Spanish case,
different accounting reforms and adaptations have occurred over the years, since 1973
with the appearance of the first General Accounting Plan in Spain and to date at least
three significant changes have occurred in accounting matters. ; 1990, 2007, and 2021,
without mentioning those related to complementary provisions and/or sectoral
adaptations, among others, in order to approach the aforementioned “accounting
harmonization”.
Spain, as a member state of the European Union (EU) (1986), is also part of the reform
process of accounting regulations that began in the year 2000 by the EU. As part of these
changes for international accounting harmonization, reforms were carried out in Spain in
2021 in commercial law on accounting matters so that companies could prepare and
present their financial statements under an international accounting framework.
In this Master's thesis we will make an understanding of the main changes originated,
with the approval of "Royal Decree 1/2021, of January 12, which modifies the General
Accounting Plan approved by Royal Decree 1514/2007, of November 16." and the most
important accounting implications in the financial statements of Spanish entities.
