Abstract
Specific language Impairment (SLI) is defined by difficulties in the acquisition and use of
language, impairment at different linguistic levels and its onset at early stages of
development. For its treatment the usual approach has been to focus on the recovery of
language itself from different approaches, such as the behaviourist one. Recently, it has
been observed that the performance of executive functions (EF) in children with SLI is
lower than in groups of children with normative development, thus establishing a
relationship between EF and SLI.
The aim of this study is, on the one hand, to investigate this relationship between EF and
SLI and, on the other hand, to propose an intervention based on the work of EF to
improve the symptomatology of SLI. To this end, a systematic review of current articles
that have studied these issues is carried out. Subsequently, an intervention proposal is
made based on this research. This proposal consists of an initial evaluation phase and
two subsequent evaluations, one immediately after the end of the eight weeks of
intervention and another one six months after the end of the intervention. Furthermore,
this proposal is intended for children between five and eleven years of age. It is also
intended to have a waiting list group in order to be able to compare results. It is expected
to work on the executive functions of these children in order to improve the
symptomatology of SLI.
