Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to study the relationship between the consumption
of pornography and attitudes of male chauvinism or violence against women. Today,
pornography is a much more accepted and assumed practice than it was in the past.
This is because, among other things, its access is much faster and more intuitive. On
the other hand, gender equality is a concept that, like pornography, has evolved and is
more accepted and assumed. However, among many other forms of violence, we find
some more tacit or implicit such as those present in pornography. To study this, an
empirical study has been carried out with a sample of 130 participants, of different sex,
sexual orientation or educational level and aged between 18 and 68 years. The
participants completed a total of 3 questionnaires: the AGR (Álvaro Gilaberte
Reyzábal) questionnaire on attitudes towards pornography, the ambivalent sexism
inventory and the scale of attitudes favorable to rape. The results of the tests were not
enough to establish a causality or direct relationship, but they did provide evidence that
the constructs are similar. Therefore, it is advisable to continue investigating this field
with a larger sample and greater control of extraneous variables. Given the variety of
fields where it could be used, being able to clarify this relationship with greater
precision would bring very positive consequences both in the clinical, educational or
social fields of psychology and other health professions, as well as in people's own
well-being
