El olvidado tratado del 239/8, sus fuentes y el número de tratados púnico-romanos

Abstract

Existe un tratado entre Cartago y Roma que no se suele señalar en las relaciones que se hacen de los existentes entre ambas potencias. Se trata del alcanzado durante la Guerra Líbica. Sus cláusulas nos ayudan a conocer los objetivos políticos de romanos y cartagineses en este periodo. Las referencias al mismo que encontramos en Polibio y Apiano nos ilustran sobre el diferente origen de las fuentes de ambos historiadores en relación con la posguerra de la Primera Guerra Púnica

We have a treaty signed by Carthage and Rome which is not taken into account, among those usually mentioned. It is the one entered into during the Mercenary War. Their agreements help us to understand both the Roman and Carthaginian political objectives during that period. What Polybius and Appianus have to tell us about that period is enlightening us to the different origins those two historians took as the sources for their references of the period after the First Punic War
