Etnografía y Paradoxografía en la historiografía latina de la República tardía y Época Augustea

Abstract

En los últimos decenios del s. II a. C. la Historiografía latina asumió rasgos característicos de la llamada Historiografía dramatizante helenística. Elemento importante en esta historigrafía eran las digresiones geográfico-etnográficas. El artículo examina una serie de historiadores latinos, cuya obra por lo general no se ha conservado completa, de los siglos II y I a. C. de los que se conocen digresiones de ese tipo, destacando las referidas al continente africano.

In late II century B. C. the so called hellenistic dramatizacing Historiography was fashioning the most famous latin historians. These hellenistic Histories used long digressions about Geography and Ethnography. In this article is studied a lot of Latin historians whose works, usually fragmentary transmitted, included digressions of this kind, specially about the African Land.
