Abstract
The influenza, a disease caused by a virus with the same name, is a respiratory
viral disease that affects to thousands of people around the world every year. There is an
effective treatment for this disease, even if it is not a definitive one: the vaccine. Despite
the fact that vaccination campaigns are carried out every year to immunize a large
amount of the population, the data obtained do not usually meet the proposed
objectives. One of the groups that does not usually reach vaccination targets is the one
composed by health personnel.
Currently, the global pandemic situation caused by the COVID-19 has led to
high rates of morbidity and mortality throughout the world as well as the saturation of
the vast majority of health systems. Among many of the measures proposed by the
competent organizations to fight against the COVID-19, vaccination against the
influenza disease has been highly recommended. This allows, among other factors,
reducing the morbidity and mortality that this disease produces every year. Furthermore,
after the approval of effective vaccines against COVID-19, vaccination against this
disease is being recommended.
In this work, we report the results of an anonymous survey where health
personnel and students were involved. The goal of that survey is analyzing their opinion
about vaccination and their vaccination situation against influenza and COVID-19 in the
last year. At the same time, we wanted to evaluate their intention prior to vaccination.
Given the sample we obtained, we observe that the intention of getting
vaccinated has been higher in the last period than along the previous years.
Consequently, the percentages of vaccines taken against influenza has also been higher
than in previous years.
