Abstract
The aim of this master’s dissertation is to review the intervention of the international
organizations to combat climate change in order to point out why it is considered the
greatest threat of the 21st century. To this end, the main tools generated for the fight
against climate change by the United Nations, initially, and then by the European Union,
will be presented. The aim is to show what measures have been taken to curb climate
change and how their regulation has evolved. This analysis shows that, although
regulation is necessary to mitigate climate change and its harmful consequences, for the
time being it is insufficient and greater efforts are needed to achieve climate neutrality.
