Abstract
This paper will give a brief introduction to deep learning applied to three-dimensional point clouds,
describing from its most basic concepts to recent network architectures. The core operation and
the main protocol for implementing neural networks in Python will be explained, as well as the
different tasks it offers as possibilities for processing information extracted from the capture of threedimensional
point clouds. In the first instance, the Pytorch Points 3D repository will be studied
through the analysis of the information published by the authors, and the problems that have been
encountered during the installation of libraries will be described, for which it has been decided to
change the work direction. As an alternative solution, the use of the MMDetection3D repository is
proposed. With it, two example cases will be analysed in order to understand how the system works,
and finally a network with an alternative architecture will be implemented, studying the effect of the
parameters involved.
