Abstract
In this research about The graphic novel without words, the subject will be approa ched from three different angles, historical evolution, communication and elements that
shape it.
Throughout the history of humankind, we have always tried to transform reality
into pictures that can pass on ideas, messages or histories. The very first ones were anec dotes or religious beliefs, but with time, the themes and the ways stories were told evolved
into two of the most popular things nowadays, the comic, and movies.
To begin researching this subject, we will start with the aspects that make up a
comic. This will be the visual language and the written language. Each one has their di fferences, and their advantages and disadvantages for the learning process. After this, the
different elements that should be taken into account will be shown, as well as some of the
artists that make use of them in their silent comics or graphic novels.
Based on the data obtained throughout the research, an exercise ready to be applied
in the class will be shown. In it, the students will have to create a graphic novel without
using text, aiming to create visual communication using a story chosen by them.
