Cognición y emoción: el derecho a la experiencia a través del arte

Abstract

La educación moderna ha olvidado las emociones para centrarse casi exclusivamente en el desarrollo del pensamiento racional y en el método científico como forma de conocer el mundo. La crítica de la razón universal por la pedagogía crítica y la recuperación del papel del cuerpo y las emociones han sido en los últimos años reforzadas por las investigaciones sobre el funcionamiento del cerebro y del papel de la emoción en la cognición. En este artículo se reivindica el papel del arte y la creatividad como medio para lograr una educación para la vida que recoja la complejidad del ser humano y de sus relaciones con los demás.

Modern education has left emotions behind to focus almost exclusively on the development of rational thinking processes and on the scientifi c method as the only way to get knowledge about the world. Both criticism to the universal reasoning made by critical pedagogy, and the recovery of the role of body and emotions have been recently reinforced by recent research on how the brain works and the role of emotion in cognition. In this article, the author supports the role of art and creativity as a means to achieve a lifelong learning which encompasses the complexity of human beings and their relationships with others.
